The Irish Society was the body instituted by the common council of the City of London in 1610 to manage the property acquired by the City as a collective undertaker in the Ulster Plantation scheme of the area renamed in 1613 the county of Londonderry

The documents here printed illustrate in unusual detail the civil and ecclesiastical administration and the economic and social life of the Foyle Bann region, as well as providing a wealth of detail about seventeenth century fishery practice.
