It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Dr Bríd McGrath, editor of four IMC editions. On behalf of the Chair and members of the Commission we extend our condolences to Simon and Bríd’s son Oisín and daughter Sibéal.
Bríd was an independent historian of the seventeenth century and published four editions with IMC between 2006 and 2025 as well as several papers in IMC’s serial publication, Analecta Hibernica. Her interests included the elected politicians and parliaments of Ireland as well as municipal administration of the period. Her IMC editions include: The minute book of the Corporation of Clonmel, 1608–1649 (2006); with Aidan Clarke, Letterbook of George, 16th earl of Kildare (2013); Acts of the Corporation of Coleraine, 1623–1669 (2017); with Aidan Clarke and David Edwards, The letterbook of Richard Boyle, 1st earl of Cork, 1629–1634 (2025).
Bríd was always a pleasure to work with and a professional and courteous editor. She will be greatly missed.
