Description

A letter from Amanda McKitterick Ros to an unidentified 'Dear Sir' which notes:

'My chief object of writing is and always has been, to write if possible in a strain all of my own. This I find is why my writings are so much sought after.
My works are all expressly my own - pleasingly peculiar, not a borrowed stroke in one of them.
I write as I feel and as I don't feel.
I please the huge army of readers I always maintain.
I afford pleasure and give satisfaction to the million and one who continually thirst for aught that drops from my pen. ...Up to the present few critics understand my writings thoroughly', 21 November 1927.
