Description

There is a detailed calendar of Letters of His Eminence Card Logue Addressed to Most Rev. W.J. Walsh, Archbishop of Dublin available in the archives. The papers include, for example:

8 July 1901, Carlingford (?) 'Mrs Tennant called in Armagh on Saturday and put forth all her reasons for the withdrawal of the Irish members from opposition to the Bill on the inspection of laundries. The impression left on my mind from some little things I observed is that the lady has ceased to be a catholic. I also think that her zeal in the matter is not altogether in the interests of the convents. This is a matter in which I have very little experience. We have only one convent working a laundry in the diocese, and as far as I know the nuns do not care who inspects it.'
