Description

Material relating to the Hierarchy, Folder number 1, Emigration, 1937-1939, includes:

Letter of the Archbishop of Westminster to his Eminence Cardinal MacRory, 26 May 1939, - 'I must begin by expressing to Your Eminence my great pleasure in the contact made between our two Hierarchies at the meeting in Dublin on March 9 of this year between the Bishops of Limerick, Waterford and Kilmore on the one side and the Bishops of Clifton, Nottingham and Menevia on the other. Such collaboration is most welcome to the English Hierarchy and I earnestly hope that it may be continued. The Report of that meeting, together with the very grave Reports (already in Your Eminence's hands) of the Women's Moral Welfare Organisation in Westminster, has been laid before the Hierarchy of England and Wales. .. I wish therefore to comment on the suggestions made at the Dublin meeting (primarily from the moral angle and to offer certain further suggestions'.

Note of His Eminence Cardinal MacRory on the letter (26 May) of His Eminence Cardinal Hinsley.
