Death notices from the newspapers.

Letter addressed `Dear Friend' 1897 from Wilhelmina Webb, Ardkill, Killiney, County Dublin, giving details of her mother and father's lives, particularly the philanthropic activities of her mother. `She was much [?] in attempting the amelioration of the state of our working women now so much brought forward but little considered then.' She goes on to discuss the work of the Belfast Ladies Anti-Slavery society in the time of her mother [1830s, 1840s] and moves on thus: `Again during the Famine of 46 and 47 when Friends everywhere came forward to help, My Mother was corresponding secretary to the Belfast Relief Association in which capacity, she came in contact with many English friends who then came over to distribute supplies in the Famine Stricken districts especially so with those who came to of [sic] Donegal and the Northern coasts'.
